Following the devastating earthquake of 1693, Ignazio Paternò Castello, the III Prince of Biscari, obtained special permission to build his new home directly upon the city walls that had withstood the forces of nature. It was a gesture of immense faith in the future. The palace emerged as a collaborative masterpiece, shaped by the greatest masters of the era, including Alonzo di Benedetto and Girolamo Palazzotto.
